voco Hotels has extended its global footprint to Atlanta with the transformation of The Darwin Hotel. The opening of this 111-room property brings the unique upscale, charming, and authentic experience of voco Hotels to the Old Fourth Ward district of the city.
The Darwin Hotel’s conversion aligns with voco Hotels’ distinctive quality and thoughtfulness, bringing together a property with over five decades of history. The brand’s approach to hospitality encourages meaningful connections, combining the comforts of a global hotel brand with the charm of an individual property. The Darwin Hotel embodies this ethos, offering a contemporary style with nods to the vibrant tradition and culture of the Old Fourth Ward.
Echoing the voco Hotels’ commitment to sustainability, the property features plant-based amenities, luxurious bedding filled with 100% recycled materials, and complimentary filtered water in reusable bottles. The four-story building promotes connection and engagement through various amenities and spaces, including a central courtyard, onsite dog park, and an outdoor cocktail bar.
Carol Hoeller, Vice President of Global Brand Management for voco Hotels, expressed her excitement over this significant milestone for the brand. “The property reflects the brand’s conversion-friendly design, which enables a seamless transition and amplification of the upscale amenities and overall fun personality that our guests have come to know and love,” she said.
The Darwin Hotel is the first IHG-branded property in Atlanta for owner Global SCR. Atlanta-based management company HVMG will oversee the hotel’s operations.
Shyam Patel, COO of Global SCR and Managing Member of The Darwin Hotel, expressed his enthusiasm for introducing voco Hotels to Atlanta. “The hotel’s regionally inspired, welcoming vibe embodies the spirit of Atlanta’s lively culture, making it a natural fit for the Old Fourth Ward,” he said.
Since its inception in 2018, voco Hotels has been on track to achieve its goal of having over 200 open global hotels by 2028. The brand’s Atlanta debut follows the opening of voco The Tuxon in Tucson, Arizona, and precedes planned late 2024 openings in Mexico City, Cincinnati, and Laguna Hills, California.
